The Centre for Health Care aims at promoting the health of individual, family and community as a whole through holistic approach, with its special focus on the marginalized groups of people in the society. It covers the areas of public health and management, structure of public health system in India, national rural health mission (NRHM), reproductive and child health (RCH), nutrition, sanitation and hygiene, urban health, applied demography and population dynamics, international health, health economics, health and development, health management, health communication, planning and management.

The department covers different areas related to health care through research, evaluation, training, and consultancy.

Researches are carried out in the following areas: Health services and financing, Health legislation and patients’ rights, Reproductive health, Nutrition and Sanitation, Public health, Hospital administration.

Training programmes are organized in the following areas: Epidemiology, Health Communication, Capacity Building in Policy Research and Development in Health Projects, Health Impact Assessment, Public Health Prevention and Practice, Public Health Law Program, Ageing, Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases, Capacity Building programmes for Health Functionaries, RCH, Hospital Administration, Nutrition, Hygiene and Sanitation.
